In September of 1979 five friends took their first trip to China. They met with factory owners from all parts of China. They were also guests at the Chinese Embassy. They met many wonderful people and made many new friends. On the fifth day of their trip they signed their first contract with a Chinese factory and thus named for the new friendships started aboard. Friendship Imports was born.
After five years of business, two of the friends bought out the interest of the other partners, leaving Penny Taylor and Martha Field running the company. These ladies have traveled all over China collaborating with the factories designing porcelain, enamel, stone and cloisonne peices to offer to their customers.
On January 1, 1999, Penny and Martha retired, selling the company to Penny's daughter, Jane Myles. The tradition of fine designs continues with Jane.
The company has experienced substantial growth since the change in ownership. Penny and Martha are still doing shows for Friendship Imports and will always be valuable advisors to the company. We will continue to design fresh new pieces and always welcome suggestions on product development. We strive to give our customers quality products at reasonable prices.
Our focus on customer service keeps the original customers from 1979 buying from Friendship Imports.
